Wednesday marks the 10th anniversary that Mean Girls hit theaters, and the cast members are looking back with gratitude.

The actors spoke about the script and on making "fetch" happen in a story with The New York Times posted on Friday. Tina Fey, who played Ms. Norbury in the film, discussed the script she wrote and how she came up with ideas.

"I revisited high school behaviors of my own -- futile, poisonous, bitter behaviors that served no purpose," Fey revealed. "That thing of someone saying, 'You're really pretty,' and then, when the other person thanks them, saying, 'Oh, so you agree? You think you're pretty?' That happened in my school. That was a bear trap."

Lacey Chabert, who played Gretchen, explained how she related to the film and how people pay so much attention to their own appearance, even though others would likely not pay attention to it.

"I related to the part in the movie where girls are cutting themselves down, like, 'My hairline is weird- stuff people would never notice on someone else," Chabert said.

Lizzy Caplan, who played Janice in the movie, also spoke on what a lot of girls have to put up with in high school.

"I think all girls that age are looking for their 'thing,'" she said. "I was fairly angsty in high school."
