Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima and her husband Marko Jaric have called it quits.

"After long and careful consideration, we have decided to separate after five years of marriage," the couple said in a joint statement.

"We are grateful to be the parents of two incredible young daughters that we will continue to co-parent. We would greatly appreciate your respect for our family's privacy as we begin this delicate next chapter for all members of our family."

Lima, 32, and the former NBA star, 35, met through a mutual friend in 2006 and three years later eloped at a private Valentine's Day ceremony in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Late in 2009, they welcomed their first daughter Valentina and in 2012, Lima gave birth to Sienna.

The Brazilian supermodel famously spoke about her decision to remain a virgin until she was married. She tied the knot to Jaric when she was 27.

"Well, you know you have to stick up for your beliefs," Lima said during her appearance on HuffPost Live last year. "Whatever makes you comfortable. Just follow your own values."

She also boasted about Jaric at the time and revealed what attracted her to him.

"Well, he's smart. He makes me laugh. He's very funny, he's very athletic," she said. "It takes time for you to know... You have to meet the person step by step and start to know their good and their bad."
