Though the family burger chain is expanding its franchise, the cast for the Wahlburgers reality show may not be, as two of the more prominent faces in the family both may not return for season 2.

Mark Wahlberg Intentionally Being Cast In A Negative Light On Family's Reality Series?

Both Mark and Donnie Wahlberg have taken on new ventures which could prevent them from appearing in as many episodes when the family reality series returns to A&E.

It was previously reported that Donnie, one-fifth of the hit band New Kids on the Block, had signed on with his band to star on Rock the Boat: NKOTB, a new eight-episode series on TV Guide Channel, which is set to chronicle the band hanging out with fans on a cruise ship.

Donnie Not Returning to 'Wahlburgers' In Favor of 'NKOTB' Reality Show?

Now, Mark also appears to potentially not be returning to the show as well, as he is now set to produce a reality show based on CBS' The Big Bang Theory, about four MIT grad students who pooled their life savings to create a home-grown microbrewery with the help of a beautiful undergrad. The show, which has not received an air date, will be titled The Big Brew Theory, and will also air on A&E.

Another Wahlberg brother, Jim Wahlberg, was reported to be joining the cast of the show in the second season along season 1 mainstays Paul Wahlberg and family matriarch, Alma. If both Donnie and Mark do choose to leave the series, Jim could be meant to serve as a replacement for them both.

Neither one has confirmed whether they will return to the show.

Wahlburgers chronicles the family's restaurant franchise, which is co-owned by Donnie, Mark and Paul, and run by Paul. The show has featured the conflicts between the brothers as Mark and Donnie try to make the chain grow, often using methods that Paul disagrees with.

It was announced in April that the franchise was expanding from its sole location in Hingam, Mass. to two other Boston-based locations, five Philadelphia locales, and one international franchise in Toronto, Canada.
