"We've known each other since we were teenagers," the Baggage Claim actress told the magazine. "All I can tell you is there's a deep love there-always was, and always will be."

The two began dating when she was just 15 and he was 14. "He wasn't my first kiss," Patton also shared, "but he was my first lots of other things." The former Hollywood couple wed in 2005 and welcomed son Julian five years later.

Controversy Behind Robin Thicke's Hit Blurred Lines

Patton and Thicke announced their split back in February with a joint statement stating that they had "mutually decided to separate at this time."

The news came a few months after Thicke performed with Miley Cyrus at the MTV Video Music Awards last August and then was caught grabbing a fan's behind in a photo that went viral.

Unlike Patton, Thicke was vocal about trying to mend the relationship. Days after their separation, Thicke told a TMZ reporter, "I'm just trying to get her back." He also declared his love for her during a concert in Virginia that month.

"For those of you who don't know, my wife and I got separated a few days ago," an emotional Thicke told the crowd. "But you know, I want everybody here to know that I'm trying to get my girl back."

He later added, "She's a good woman."
