Gabriel (Richard Speight Jr.) was ganked by Lucifer back in season 5, but the archangel made a rather shocking return to the hit CW series during season 8's "Meta Fiction." However, the circumstances surrounding his sudden reappearance have left fans wondering if the sweet-loving Trickster is really back from the dead or just a creation of Metatron's (Curtis Armstrong) conniving scheme.

Although there has been no official word on the matter, Spoiler TV has reported that writer Robbie Thompson believes Gabriel could definitely crop up again. According to the site's report from DC Con, the fact that Gabriel could continue to control the alleged reality after Castiel (Misha Collins) discovered the situation was fake is an indication that he is actually alive.

Meanwhile, Jared Padalecki (Sam) is also hopeful that the Winchester's former ally will return once more.
