The crowd favorite spoke out about her elimination and revealed that the contestants were forced to change their song selection just before the Top 4 Performances on Wednesday. Because of that, Meuse sang Pink's hit So What instead of an original piece.

She told Hollywood Life in an article published Friday, "I think they're just not used to hearing me do a pop song," she said of the judges who weren't necessarily impressed with her performance.

"That was a last-minute addition to the set list. Originally we were going to do originals, but then the network was like ‘No.' The night before rehearsal they were like, ‘You guys can't do originals. You have to pick another song'...It was a very short list of [approved songs]."

She added that she didn't have much time to learn her new choice that she had to perform in front of millions.

As for the song she wanted to originally perform, The Hell You Put Me Through, Meuse revealed that it's all about learning from hurt that you've experienced in the past and using to to "realize how strong it really made you."

She confessed that she would have rather sung her own song because it fits more with who she is.

"Oh, I would sing an original song any day...Because that's me, heart and soul, right there. I penned those words."
