Sherri Shepherd and her husband have decided to part ways. 

After reports swirled Thursday about the breakup, new details have emerged that Lamar Sally is the one who filed divorce papers after less than three years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the main reason. 

According to public records, the papers were filed last week on Friday, May 2 in Los Angeles Superior Court. He is reportedly back in Los Angeles, "where he belongs," while Shepherd is in New York for work.

A source told MailOnline that Sally's infidelity ways could be the cause of the breakup. After the couple's wedding in 2011, reports swirled that he was romantically involved with a woman named Wendy Marrissa Peel, who was a close friend of the family.The couple wed on Aug. 13, 2011 in Chicago only year after dating. He proposed with a three-carat princess-cut diamond ring and gushed at the time, "This man not only loves me, but he adores my son [Jeffrey]. And my son adores him."

The couple were said to be trying to have a child together, but due to Shepherd's fertility issues, surrogacy became an option.

"We're starting the process of making sure the uterus that we picked is not crazy," Shepherd told Essence in June. "I put out there that I would give someone a free weave for a year and a free Hyundai. Literally, we'd be at the club and these girls would be like 'I'll carry yo' baby.' I don't think so...So, it's been a journey trying to sift through the ones with drama and no drama so I think I have one, but I'll definitely keep everyone updated."

Shepherd has yet to respond about her impending divorce.
