Love can be hard to find, and some people tend to go to any stretch of the imagination in order to find it-including appearing on reality TV dating shows.

While ABC's The Bachelor/Bachelorette series is by far the most popular of these shows, despite its less-than-stellar record at finding everlasting love, it is far from the least peculiar and strange of the programs that have made it onto television.

While trying to find new angles on the somewhat tired genre can be inventive and awarded, several attempts have not only been laughable and failed, they employed more questionable tactics than the popular ABC series has. Some have recruited controversial figures to star as the main person whose love is being competed for. Others have tried capitalizing on more shallow elements in the search for love-including money, looks and social status. Even the concept of trying to break up established relationships has been placed on television screens.

With the upcoming premiere of I Wanna Marry Harry on FOX, where a British man will lead 12 American women to believe he is none other than Prince Harry in an effort to find love, Enstars compiled a list of eight reality dating shows that had some of the worst premises in television history.
