Tom Cruise has hired Dennis Wasser of Law firm Wasser, Cooperman & Carter, P.C., to represent him in his divorce from Katie Holmes. Dennis is the same attorney Tom used in his divorce with Nicole Kidman. Dennis Wasser's firm specializes in divorce issues, marital properties, valuation and division, including child support and child custody cases.

Dennis works with his daughter Laura Wasser, a famed divorce lawyer with high-profile celebrity clients including Kim Kardashian,  Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie and Heidi Klum.

Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom on June 28 in New York and is represented by Jonathan Wolfe. Katie is currently seeking sole custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri.

Tom Cruise deeded the couple's  New York apartment to Katie last August 2011 to avoid taxes, according to documents obtained by TMZ.  Katie will use the deed to gain residency in New York for the purpose of the divorce.

It is believed that Katie filed for divorce in New York because she has a better chance of gaining sole custody of Suri in New York courts.

"I would hope that it's not a contentious matter. I know Tom is not a particularly contentious person. [As far as our legal team goes,] we're thinking about who to use. We have to discuss strategy," said Dennis Wesser in a statement to the media.
