With the second season of Under the Dome just a month away, the show's producers have teased what fans should expect in the new episodes, as well as how many seasons the show could have.

'Whole Planet Could Be Affected' By the Dome on Under the Dome?

Under the Dome executive producer Neal Baer spoke at the CBS Summer Press Event Monday about the theme of this upcoming season, which is "transformation." He noted that while the first season revolved around secrets, the second season will be one where fans find out what the characters are really made of.

"Anything is possible under the dome," Baer previewed.

He also revealed that the second season is set to explore science vs. faith, thanks in part to Rebecca (Karla Crome), a new character who is a science teacher. Rebecca takes on a science-based approach to the mysterious dome while Julia (Rachelle Lefevre) is more faith-based. Big Jim (Dean Norris) finds himself caught in the middle of both approaches.

On that note, Season 2 will feature a slew of new characters that will serve to both expand the show's universe and help explore more about the current characters, according to Baer.

Baer also revealed that even though the series was slated to be an "event" type of show, it could last well beyond that.

"We're way past the book," Baer explained. "The book is about the first week and we're already two weeks in. This season will be going two more weeks. If we lasted 15 years, that would only be a year under the dome. It's certainly possible to keep going. We have so many stories to tell."

Under the Dome Season 2 premieres on Monday, June 30 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
