Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) made a big decision to leave his familiar Pasadena surroundings in The Big Bang Theory season finale, but will he stay gone into the new season?

Bob Newhart 'Definitely' Returning For Future Episodes?

Sheldon became overwhelmed in the finale after Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) got engaged and Leonard informed Sheldon that he would be moving across the hall. He was okay with this news but it soon sunk in that this meant he wouldn't be roommates with his best friend anymore, causing him to panic and make a rash decision. Fans saw him getting ready to board a train while Leonard and Penny said goodbye to him.

With this in mind, TVLine spoke with Parsons about the possibility of Sheldon never actually getting on the train.

Leonard Moving Out Of The Apartment

"I never thought of that, but you're right - he could show back up at home immediately, couldn't he?" Parsons said, adding that he has been pestering the writers to find out what happens next for Sheldon.

"Nobody will tell me. I don't know if they know yet. They may know, but I really don't know if they do."

Whenever Sheldon actually comes back to the apartment and reunites with his friends, Parsons said he's most excited to see what happens between Sheldon and Amy (Mayim Bialik). Fans may have been shocked to not see Sheldon saying goodbye to Amy at all.

"I don't know that we're headed for the bedroom or the altar any time soon," he said. "But, whatever... The writers have been so good with the pace of it, just bring more is all I would say."

The Big Bang Theory Season 8 premieres in fall 2014 on CBS. The network is moving the show to Mondays at 8 p.m. to make room for Thursday Night Football.
