After the shocking Castle Season 6 finale, star Nathan Fillion, who plays the titular character, recently joked about what fans should expect for Season 7.

Main Character's Future In Question After Car Crash Cliffhanger In Finale?

At a recent convention in Dallas, Fillion was asked if his character Castle and Beckett (Stana Katic) were ever going to get married. Castle's car crash in the Season 6 finale will certainly delay things a little more, and Fillion decided to have a little fun with his response.

"I don't know how it's going to work out after the untimely death of Castle in season 6," he quipped. "I know that Molly Quinn is constantly pushing for a Castle spin-off. We're calling it Castle: Legacy."

Senator Bracken Involved In Castle Car Crash Finale Cliffhanger?

Considering Castle is the show's main character, it is highly, highly unlikely that he is really dead after the events of the Season 6 finale, so fans shouldn't give Fillion's comments any credence.

One person Castle fans can trust in is Andrew W. Marlowe, the show's creator. He recently spoke with TVGuide.com after the Season 6 finale and revealed that the big car crash was not a result of Bracken (Jack Coleman).

"I think that aspect of the mythology is closed now," Marlowe told the publication. "Beckett knows who killed her mother. If there's further storytelling there, I think we're going to be breaking new ground."

Castle Season 7 premieres in fall 2014 on ABC. The network has not yet announced a premiere date specifically but it will be returning to its regular Mondays at 10 p.m. timeslot after Dancing With the Stars.
