As Criminal Minds just wrapped the finale of season 9, the producer of the show Erica Messner spoke about the next season in a recent interview.

Early Renewal For Season 10 To Push Release Date?

Messner dished about Reid's future on the show in an interview with TVGuide. When the show creator was asked if Reid would go offtrack and starting using Dilaudid again, Messer suggested that that could very much be a possibility.

"My hope is that he doesn't go down the Dilaudid path again!," she said while laughing. "But that's stuff for us to discuss at the beginning of the summer when the writers all come back. That's certainly a very real thing we could make a story out of or just something that we're aware of moving forward."

Messer went on to relate it with the way Garcia ended up killing someone for the very first time on the show in the last season.

"Same thing with Garcia shooting someone for the first time. It's interesting because I had written it and I was like, "I should talk to Kirsten before, to make sure she's OK with it." I said, "Here's why. You're saving Reid's life," and she was like, "Right on. Absolutely!" We'll deal with that, but truthfully, she didn't kill him; she just shot him and I feel like when you see the scene, you might be satisfied with the way it is."

The second and final part of the finale, Demons, aired on Wednesday, May 14 on CBS at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
