As Law & Order SVU recently wrapped its 15th season, showrunner Warren Leight revealed what fans can expect from the next season of the NBC series in an interview dated May 21.

Audience Will 'Freak Out' In Finale As 'A Big Change Is Coming'?

Leight spoke to TVGuide, revealing that as Nick Amaro (Danny Pino) is behind bars and the team is already short-staffed, they might bring someone new in, to spice things up on the show.

"We'll probably see somebody in the first three episodes who's going to come in and shake things up," Leight said. "You'll see a guy who has a little less polish. Manhattan detectives have a certain swag and polish and the outer borough detectives are a little rougher around the edges. We'll see a glimpse of a guy who maybe needs a little bit of refining."

'Instinctual Detectives' To Find Out About Amaro And Rollins Relationship?

In the finale of the show, Amaro was be put behind bars for attacking Simon Wilkes on charges of attempted murder. And it does't seem like Amaro will be able salvage his job, even though his heart is in the right place. Richard Belzer also returned as detective John Munch to give Amaro some advice, in the finale. Another interesting development towards the end of the show was the revelation of the romantic relationship between Amaro and Rollins.

The finale, titled Spring Awakening, will air on Wednesday, May 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
