"So proud to announce I'm gonna be on an upcoming episode of Glee!" he tweeted Friday. "Stay tuned for details."

Sue Sylvester, Quinn, & More 'Absolutely' Returning For Glee Final Season?

Ferris is the lead singer for the band Cursed Sails, which just released its debut album in May. Cursed Sails is a heavy metal/screamo-based band, so it would be a big departure from the show's usual pop and showtunes style if Ferris carries that over to his role on Glee.

As Glee enters its final season, there is some question as to where the characters will be located. Star Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry on the musical series, recently said that she wanted to see the show go back to McKinley High for a few episodes, the place that started it all.

"I really would like to do some great musical numbers with my cast members, and probably to go back to McKinley High, where it all began, for a couple of episodes, just to go back to our roots," Michele admitted to Fashion & Style.

Glee Season 6 is expected to air in spring 2015 on Fox, though the network has not announced an official premiere date. It is also not known if it will be returning to its Tuesdays at 8 p.m. timeslot.
