Pitch Perfect 2 is already underway after the first film's runaway success.

A sequel to the 2012 musical comedy will follow Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) and Beca (Anna Kendrick) through their senior year at Barden University.

Starring a bevy of dance and singing happy co-stars, the sequel is slated to start shooting when star turned director Elizabeth Banks gets behind the camera in her directorial debut.

The sequel has had young female Hollywood buzzing with actresses doing any and everything to try to get cast in the new production headed by starlet Banks.

The original was a word of mouth hit that followed the Barden College group, "The Barden Bella," an all girl a cappella singing group taking on modern pop songs and making them their own.

In typical movie fashion and the classic formula where good triumphs over evil, the sequel is sure to follow a Rocky style narrative arc. The rag tag group of misfits will probably also ascend to the finals of the all-college tournament to stake their claim in the a capella world of singing.

The competition is sure to be stiffer this time around especially with veteran actress Banks at the helm and taking on a starring role to boot.

The genre of singing movies have become the taste du jour in Hollywood as the hyrbrid of music and dance movies continue to infiltrate the cinematic landscape. The original Pitch Perfect proved that their is clearly an audience for these types of films with non A-list actors that can still bring it as well as put together a tidy sum at the box office. And best of all, a sequel coming in 2015!
