Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey, and Patrick Dempsey, aka Derek Shepherd, both renewed their Grey's Anatomy contracts for two more seasons back in January. Now, there's some speculation that the beloved couple may call it quits when season 11 returns.

But, Grey's fans shouldn't worry because a breakup doesn't seem likely. However, Meredith and Derek will have to deal with a few bumps on the road, according to TVLine.com.

The two doctors will "face one of their more challenging seasons in recent memory, which makes the timing of Cristina's exit horrible for Mer," the website noted.

As best friends, Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Meredith had been through a lot throughout the years at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and they were always there for each other when things got rough. Who will Meredith turn to now that Cristina is gone?

Oh ended her run with the hit ABC show with season 10. Many fans were shocked when she announced in August that she'd be leaving the show. The 42-year-old actress, who appeared on Grey's Anatomy since season 1 premiered in 2005, said she's ready to start a new chapter in her life.

"Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go," Oh told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's such an interesting thing to play a character for so long and to actually get the sense that she wants to be let go as well."
