Ever since it was announced that the ABC 1990s hit Boy Meets World would receive a 2014 spinoff, fans have seemed to hope for the best while at the same time fearing disappointment.

Maya Fox a Young Shawn Hunter on Girl Meets World?

However, Disney has recently released a few clips from the upcoming Girl Meets World in order to promote the sitcom, and possibly ease concerns that the show will not live up to the hype.

So far these clips seem to highlight a committed physical humor and fast-paced wit, both of which played a big part in the original program. The new show seems to be making an attempt pay homage to the original while at the same time moving forward into new territory, the first step of which was centering the show around a girl this time around instead of a boy.

Girl Meets World Casting

Boy Meets World, created by Michael Jacobs, developed a loyal following from 1993 until its end seven seasons later. "It touched on themes that people can relate to," said actor Ben Savage to ABC. "Relationships, growing up, it really sparked something in people."

Savage will be reprising his role as Cory Matthews on Disney this summer and other original actors are slated to make guest appearances.

The latest clip from Girl Meets World, which shows Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya Fox (Sabrina Carpenter) arriving late to class, is reminiscent of the world Jacobs created in 1993, though there is nothing outdated about the set or characters.

Girl Meets World will premiere on June 27.
