One of the more significant characters in the Batman universe might be showing up in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, according to the latest rumors.

Ben Affleck Bulking Up For Batman Role With 'Stud Of A Trainer?'

Commissioner Gordon has showed up in all iterations of the major Batman movies (Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher films and the Christopher Nolan trilogy), and he may be appearing again in Batman v Superman. New rumors via Batman On Film are stating that Commissioner Gordon may be showing up in the blockbuster film.

These rumors are not confirmed by other sources, but it is still early in production, so anything is possible. As the report notes, Ben Affleck's Batman in the film will be an older/semi-retired Dark Knight, so Commissioner Gordon would be even older than he already is.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice NOT A 'Man of Steel' Sequel?

However, if there is any sort of glimpse into Batman/Bruce Wayne's world, it would be entirely plausible to feature Commissioner Gordon in some capacity.

As it stands now, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler.

Holly Hunter is also set to star as a new character, though rumors are stating that she is going to play a "female Alfred" type of character.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
