Boardwalk Empire Adds New Character

Thompson has spent the whole of the series with a foot in the door, longing for peace and salvation while at the same time craving power and control.

In the show's first season, Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt) famously said "you can't be half a gangster, Nucky. Not anymore." The line, meant to represent the times, has become a kind of slogan for the program.

While Nucky seemed to have made that decision a long time ago, he ultimately killed Darmody for be trying him at the close of Season 2, Nucky still might have a change of heart by the end of the series.
