Though most southern cities seem opposed to having CMT's hit reality show Party Down South filming in their towns, one location appears to be going against the trend.

Show Not Welcome In Ocean Springs, Mississippi?

The show has previously been rejected from Pensacola, Fla. and has met recent resistance from Ocean Springs, Miss. as well, but a different city in Mississippi is eager to have the show film there.

According to Gulf Live, the Mayor of Poplarville, Mississippi, which just allowed the sale of beer and light wine within city limits in March, has requested that the CMT show film in his town.

Mayor Brad Necaise reportedly sent an email to Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran June 5, asking her to let the show film at least one episode in his city.

"Please send our CMT production people to the Mayor of Poplarville, Mississippi, and let me see if I can't get their show going here," Necaise reportedly wrote in the email.

Moran reportedly replied to Necaise to say that while the show would be filming in Ocean Springs, she would see if the producers would want to film in Poplarville.

"I know a lot of communities would love to have the economic benefit of PDS in their communities," she said. "I will tell the producer about your request. Maybe they can shoot a scene up there, but they are coming to Ocean Springs."

Necaise later confirmed his interest in having the show film in his city, though he conceded that he probably wouldn't consider his city to be a good fit for an entire season's worth of episodes.

"I just felt like we're going through a growing phase," he said. "Comparing Poplarville and Ocean Springs, I don't know that it would be a good fit for the whole season, but maybe a segment or two."

The show has previously filmed seasons in Murrells Inlet, S.C. (pop. 8,547), and Athens, GA. (pop. 192,541). By comparison, Ocean Springs has a population of 23,161 and Poplarville has a population of 2,601.

Whether the show shoots its next season in Ocean Springs or Poplarville, it will be the frust time they are filming in the home state of one of the cast members. Josh Murray is from the town of Luise, Miss. (pop. 315).

Party Down South airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on CMT.
