Castle fans were shocked in the final moments of this spring's Season 6 finale with Castle (Nathan Fillion) getting into a fiery car crash, and there are now new details about where the series will pick up in Season 7.

Nathan Fillion Teases Castle Spin-Off After Dramatic Season 6 Finale?

Viewers of Castle should not expect any sort of time jump in the Season 7 premiere of the series, according to a new spoiler report by TVLine. The series will be picking up immediately after the events of the Season 6 finale.

"We feel like, given the way we left off, we have an obligation to start exactly where we ended," Castle executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe explained to TVLine. "So we'll be picking up in real time."

Senator Bracken Involved In Car Crash Finale Cliffhanger?

Despite fan outrage about being robbed of the Castle-Beckett (Stana Katic) wedding that has been so long in the making, Marlowe previously insisted that there is a grander plan in mind.

"We're actually very excited about where we're going next season, and this helps set up some of the elements that we're going to be dealing with coming back," Marlowe told TVLine in May. "We felt like it was an interesting way to end it, in a way that people will want to know what happened, what's going on."

He explained that while it is a bit of an "emotional blow" for fans of the series, it will be starting off a new mythology going forward.

"We're just sorry that the audience has to wait until September to see how we're going to resolve it."

Castle Season 7 premieres in fall 2014 on ABC, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date for the series. It will be returning to its regular Mondays at 10 p.m. timeslot.
