Paulson had been announced to be playing a "freak" in the upcoming season of American Horror Story, which is subtitled Freak Show. Executive producer Ryan Murphy had revealed that Paulson's new character would be the "most challenging character" he had ever created.

With this in mind, fans may know exactly why the new character will be so challenge after Paulson tweeted a photo Thursday.

"So excited to be playing Bette AND Dot this season," she captioned the photo. "Two heads are better than one! #AHSFREAKSHOW."

The photo features what appears to be Paulson as a two-headed person, each with a different expression on her face.

It is not immediately clear if Paulson was joking with the photo, but it has already sent fans into a tizzy. The tweet has been re-tweeted and favorited thousands of times mere minutes after she posted it.

Paulson previously told E! News that her first reaction upon reading the first script of American Horror Story: Freak Show was "holy s---!"

She elaborated: "I feel like that's the appropriate reaction you want when you read the first script of American Horror Story. So it's very exciting and totally nerve-wracking in the best way because you think, 'How the hell am I going to pull this off?!' And as an actor, I think that's an exciting thing to feel."

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres this fall on FX, though the network has not announced a specific air date yet. It will likely return in October like the previous three seasons of the horror anthology series.
