The mob war related shooting that happened at the Port Charles Police Department looks to have been an elaborate set-up on behalf of the police themselves on General Hospital.

Anna Informs Ric's Loved Ones Of His Condition After Cell Shooting?

Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) had been sitting in a cell awaiting arraignment for crimes related to Julian Jerome's (Michael DeVry) organization but he had been set up. Keen to Julian's mode of operation, police chief Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) was positive Ric had been framed -- and in an effort to sniff out Julian's real boss and prevent an innocent man form going to jail, she has hatched a huge plan.

She previously had Nathan (Ryan Paevy) go down to Ric's cell to escort him to his arraignment, when a shot rang out. Now, at the hospital, Ric's life is supposedly on the line following Nathan shooting him --however, it is all an elaborate ruse that Anna has concocted, and Ric will be put into protective custody while she finds the true mob boss.

Ric Tells Sonny He Isn't His Enemy?

In a preview clip for the Friday, June 13 episode, she will remind Ric that it means none of his loved ones, including his daughter, Molly (Haley Poulus) and girlfriend, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), can know he is actually alive. For the plan to work, they must believe he is dead.

"No one else can know you're alive," Anna says to a very much alive Ric in the clip.

Meanwhile, Nathan will start spreading the news that he was forced to kill Ric in a struggle, and will start by informing Maxie (Kirsten Storms) of what he's supposedly done.

"You Killed Ric Lansing?" she asks him in bewilderment.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 2 p.m. on ABC.
