Jennifer Lopez opened the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Thursday in Brazil, after all. The superstar took the stage with Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte as they performed their collaboration We Are One (Ole Ola) at the packed stadium in Sao Paulo.

All three were full of energy as they performed this year's World Cup anthem on a festive stage and told the crowd to put their "hands up in the sky." Brazilian band Olodum was also part of the upbeat performance and banged on drums below them.

Days before the show, FIFA officials said that Lopez wouldn't perform at the anticipated World Cup before Brazil played Croatia. However, Lopez cleared up the misunderstanding.

"I think people get anxious, especially with me and my schedule when I'm like, 'Ah, OK, I can leave this day, that day, I don't know if we can make it," she told The Associated Press.

"People get nervous and I think it was a little bit premature to announce anything," she said. "But we are definitely going."

Lopez also revealed that Pitbull was the one who made the World Cup collaboration possible. (The two worked together before on the songs On the Floor and Dance Again.)

"He had this record and he's like, 'I think this record could be great for the World Cup," Lopez said. "He's like, 'Will you do it with me?' And I go, 'Yeah, of course.'"

She added: "I'm so lucky that he gave me the opportunity."
