Boardwalk Empire Moves Into Great Depression For Final Season?

Wright has referred the show as one of his most enjoyable working environments, with a "supportive environment" and "unbelievable character" for him to portray.

In a recent interview with Gold Derby editor Matt Noble (featured below), Wright described what it was like to go into a show a few seasons in and then move into the end of the series with it. "Some great work had been done in the previous seasons [of Boardwalk Empire]," explained Wright, "And it was somewhat intimidating... the writing was extraordinary the production design was just beautifully filmed."

Gretchen Mol Returning For Season 5 Of Boardwalk Empire?

With the experience came some large shoes to fill. "If you step into a situation like that," said Wright. "You don't want to detract from it, you want to try to bring something to it and contribute."

Wright certainly did contribute during Season 4, playing Dr. Narcisse with absolute precision and providing a formidable enemy for Michael K. Williams' (The Wire) character of Chalky White.

"There's a warmth to that show, it kind of sucks you in," added Wright. "The photography and the mood and the tones...in this incredibly dangerous jagged, brutal world you find some kind of strange comfort inside of it."

Boardwalk Empire returns to HBO for its fifth and final season September 2014.
