As Booth (David Boreanaz) is shipped off to prison in the wake of the tumultuous events in the Season 9 finale of Bones, he will be faced with issues related to his faith in public institutions.

Booth 'Fighting For His Life' Going Into Season 10?

Amid the Ghost Killer conspiracy leading back to the FBI, Booth shot three Delta Force agents in the Season 9 finale, resulting in his arrest. By the time Season 10 rolls around, Booth will have spend time in jail, though he does not feel any bitterness or resentment about his (wrongful) imprisonment.

"There is no more heinous betrayal in Booth's mind than the corruption of an institution that has been set up for the public good," Bones executive producer Stephen Nathan told TVGuide.com this week. "We're really going to be examining patriotism, loyalty to your fellow citizens ... and what the pure vision of the country is. ... Anything that corrupts that is sacrilege to Booth."

Bones Season 9 Finale 'Changes Everything'?

Nathan previously revealed that Season 10 would open with Booth in jail awaiting trial.

"As always happens from the time you're incarcerated to the time your trial starts can be quite a long time. All I can say is it is not a good situation for a law enforcement officer to be incarcerated with criminals."

Brennan (Emily Deschanel) was last seen being taken into custody for questioning in the Season 9 finale. The two partners turned spouses will have been apart from each other for a few months as Season 10 opens, not being able to touch each other.

Bones Season 10 premieres in fall 2014 on Fox, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date. It will be moving to a new timeslot in the fall, airing in the Thursdays at 8 p.m. timeslot.
