The Farrelly brothers, who directed Dumb and Dumber and returned to direct its upcoming sequel, were interviewed by The Huffington Post at the Bonnaroo music festival recently and discussed the process of making the sequel.

"We weren't going to make it without Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels," Bobby Farrelly said when asked what took them so long to produce a sequel to the 1994 film.

"We didn't want to make it unless it was as good as the first," Peter Farrelly added, "and the first was really good, so we really had to work our a--es off."

He said that they did not want to make "Dumb and Dumber Light," saying that they took between two and three years to write the script.

Dumb and Dumber To features Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels) at it again, 20 years later. In the sequel, Harry receives a postcard revealing that he has a daughter, who has now grown into an adult.

Harry and Lloyd come up with a scheme to find Harry's daughter in order to get her kidney for a transplant. They go on yet another cross country road trip where hijinks inevitably ensue. The film also stars Kathleen Turner as Fraida Felcher, the woman Harry impregnated, as well as Laurie Holden, who will play the film's antagonist.

Dumb and Dumber To is scheduled for release in theaters on Nov. 14.
