Some character changes are reportedly about to be made in the second season of Defiance as everyone faces difficulties on trying to be who they are again.

On Wednesday, TV Guide reported that the series has the entire town transformed, but not in a good way. This will lead the characters to slowly learn how to find themselves again.

"Everyone has lost their role in town and everyone is either struggling to get back the role that they had or define a new role for themselves," Julie Benz, who plays Mayor Amanda Rosewater, said at New York Comic Con.

In fact, Amanda will likely be someone who will have to deal with this the most.

"She doesn't know how to survive," Benz said. "It's hard to have been in the position of power and then to all of the sudden have that power stripped away from you."

The site mentioned that during the first half of Season 2, a rebellion will start to go against the government as the people will likely fight the oppression.

"Season 1 had to render the Earth Republic in very black and white, simplistic terms," Grant Bowler, who plays Joshua Nolan, said. "They were in danger of becoming storm troopers where they were just faceless people you shot down in a row."

Bowler also revealed that Datak will be facing a battle with his family for pretty much the whole season.

Defiance airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on SyFy.
