Actors Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel sat down with Larry King to talk about child stardom on the ABC 1990s hit Boy Meets World. The pair will be reprising their roles of Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence on the Disney Channel spin-off, Girl Meets World as parents of a young girl, played by Rowan Blanchard, trying to figure life out for herself.

Is Mr. Feeny Dead On Girl Meets World?

With the stigma often associated with child actors and the difficulties they often develop in later life, King asked the pair how they managed to "stay grounded" when they were growing up on ABC in the 1990s.

"I think the people that were surrounding us on Boy Meets World, the producers the teachers, our parents our families were well aware of that [concern]," said Savage, whose father worked in real-estate in Chicago before the family moved to California, "They did everything they could to keep us as grounded as possible and just keep us having a normal upbringing."

Boy Meets World Original Characters Set To Return For Disney Channel Spin-Off?

Fishel agreed, stating that she had to "beg" her parents to let her act as it was not a career path they would have chosen for her. "Any time I showed any attitude my mom's famous quote was 'I will rip you out of this business so fast your head will spin'..." laughed Fishel, who admitted that her parents were proud of her in spite of their differing opinions. "It [acting] was something she let me do because it was something I wanted but it wasn't important at all to her."

With a brand new class of child performers premiering on Girl Meets World this month, perhaps Savage and Fishel will encourage the same methods that kept them "grounded" in dealing with the children on the show.

Girl Meets World begins its first season June 27 on the Disney Channel.
