Vikings is drastically expanding its cast for season 3, and with every new announcement comes a quick glimpse at Ragnar Lothbrok's upcoming adventures.

Now the (rather unwilling) King of Denmark, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and his Norse warriors will use his newfound power to help carve an ambitious new kingdom. For starters, Ragnar will move part of his focus from Wessex to a Roman city on the Sine. Paris, however, will provide the series with two new political foes - the Emperor Charles of France, who will be played by Lothaire Bluteau of Tudors fame; and Charles' daughter and closest confidant, Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski).

Meanwhile, in Britain, the mother of Alfred the Great will be revealed, according to IFTN. Jennie Jacques will portray Judeth, the wife of King Ecbert's (Linus roache) son Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford).

As for the Vikings themselves, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) will receive a new second in command. The new character, named Kalf, will be played by Ben Robson.

While each of these additions fall nicely into a specific camp, Kevin Durand's The Wanderer presents a bit of a puzzle. A man who is not quite what he seems, The Wanderer has yet to be assigned a side in the Vikings world.
