E! News confirmed that Shepherd was leaving the show after seven years and producers have been quietly looking for new hosts for her and McCarthy.

"It's been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on," Shepherd said in a statement to Deadline. "I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."

Soon after that, McCarthy tweeted that she was also leaving the show. "If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters." she tweeted. "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

TMZ also reported that executive producer Gedde won't be back next season, as well. The website also wrote that sources have said the show is interested in having Rosie O'Donnell return. Other celebrities that the show is reportedly keen on include Laila Ali, Ross Matthews and Jesse Palmer.

According to People.com, Shepherd was unable to reach a new deal with ABC, while McCarthy was let go because the show "is moving in a new direction creatively." There has been no news about whether Whoopi Goldberg would be staying on the show.

Creator Barbara Walters retired in May after over 50 years in journalism. Walters is expected to make an appearance on The View today to promote an upcoming 20/20 special.
