As Transformers 4: Age of Extinction raked in the big bucks -- estimated at a whopping $100 million -- during the first week of its release, it's the path for Transformers 5 is laid out.

Michael Bay Replacement For Transformers 5 Not An Issue

The latest rumors surrounding the plot of the next movie suggest that it will be partially set in Cybertron. As the last movie ended with Optimus Prime on a hunt to find the creators, which might take the crew to Cybertron.

Earlier this year it had been revealed that Transformers 4: Age of Extinction was only the beginning to a new phase in the series, and a trilogy will be led by Mark Wahlberg. But there seem to have been talk of issues between Bay and Paramount as he has set the condition of working on a passion project, like Pain and Gain from last year, before getting toTransformers 5.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction Slays At Box Office

In an interview with Screen Rant dated June 27, producer Ben Kendrick spoke about Age of Extinction and Transformers 5.

Kendrick dismissed the rumors about the producers looking for a replacement for Bay in the movies.

"I think it's one of those classic things where somebody reported that and suddenly it became our plan. We have never discussed the idea of how to hand it off, honestly," he said. "It's not like we don't think, well what happens if Michael doesn't do it, of course you do. But we want to keep Michael on this, so we're not spending any time worrying about who could come in. We're trying to figure out how to keep him going and keep him excited."

Meanwhile, it doesn't seem like Age of Extinction has been a success with critics as it has gotten some pretty bad reviews pointing to a sensory overload with excessive use of technical, CGI mined wizardry and a lack of a strong plot, with the human characters almost rendered meaningless.

Transformers: Age of Extinction will hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
