Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale had previously disclosed that she had auditioned for the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, but now the actress is revealing how awkward it was reading for the part.

In June, Hale revealed she had read for the role in Fifty Shades of Grey. Now, Hale is telling MTV how "uncomfortable" it truly was reading for the racy role that eventually went to Dakota Johnson.

"It actually was just me [in the audition]. It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be," Hale said about the process. "Very uncomfortable, but it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you're just gonna look lame -- hopefully, I didn't look lame."

Hale said that the Fifty Shades of Grey audition was "unlike any audition I have ever done before in my life." The actress also said she didn't have to read a particular scene from the film, but that due to the steamy words, she didn't "want my grandmother watching."

Although Hale has no regrets about not getting the part, especially with her lead role on PLL and a new country music album, Hale said she wanted to do something different.

"I think any girl in my demographic would have loved to be a part of it," Hale said. "Mainly, I was just interested in doing something risky and doing something a little different than my character on PLL so it took me out of my comfort zone."
