Downton Abbey Season 5 is about to get more exciting when Lady Mary embraces her independent side, and might even find herself a new man.

Sandra Bullock To Join The Series?

On Thursday, Harper's Bazaar posted an interview with the other ladies of Downton Abbey on how pleased they are to be a part of the series. Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, mentioned how series creator Julian Fellowes writes well for women; she then gave some hints on what's to come next season, which she's looking forward to.

"We're all very lucky that we're playing roles that are very complex, not just two-dimensional and predictable," Dockery said.

Lady Mary To Confess Something To Anna?

The actress went on about how she's aware of what her character is going to be dealing with.

"She's still got a complicated side to her, which makes her more interesting," she said. "Now she's a mother, and she's lost her husband, and she's really been through the mill. Now she's at a point where she's got to make decisions again about who will be the next husband and she's enjoying that, and enjoying her independence. I love her attitude. She gets up and gets on with it and moves on."

Fellowes then opened up on his view of making women the trademark for the series.

"Women grow up and men never do," he said. "There is always, in men, this kind of boy in the middle of him who must be nurtured and protected by the women in his life, and they must always make him feel that he is very talented or misunderstood or whatever."

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere this fall on PBS.
