Lost fan favorite Elizabeth Mitchell is returning to ABC for a part in the upcoming fourth season of Once Upon a Time, and she will have a special connection to the highly anticipated Frozen arc.

Once Upon a Time Officially Casts Iconic Frozen Character

Mitchell has joined Once Upon a Time for Season 4, according to a new report by Entertainment Weekly. The actress, who played Juliette in Lost  and has been in such shows as ABC's V and NBC's Revolution, may be playing a villain character.

According to the report, Mitchell will be playing a character who is "possibly malevolent" and is connected to Frozen sisters Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Anna (Elizabeth Lail). She reportedly has ties to both Storybooke and Arendelle, the kingdom featured in Frozen.

The report also notes that the events of Once Upon a Time next season are supposed to take place after everything that happened in Frozen. This means that Mitchell probably isn't going to be playing Elsa and Anna's mother, who died in a shipwreck. However, it is still possible that Mitchell could be appearing in flashback form assuming the show delves into Elsa and Anna's backstories.

The Season 4 premiere episode is titled A Tale of Two Sisters, indicating that the Frozen arc will be starting right away when the series returns from its hiatus.

Once Upon a Time Season 4 is expected to return in the fall on ABC, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date. It will be returning to its regular Sundays at 8 p.m. timeslot.
