While the program didn't manage to nab a nomination for acting, writing, or drama, the series was nominated under the prestigious Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series category for Tim Van Patten.

Van Patten, who has been with the show since the very beginning, is nominated for directing the season's finale Farewell Daddy Blues, in which fan-favorite Richard Harrow (Jack Huston) died and Chalky White (Michael K. Williams) lost his daughter. Eli Thompson (Shea Whigham) murdered a federal agent, and Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) nearly killed Eli only to be interrupted by his brother's son.

Van Patten certainly had his hands full directing this episode, and season five promises more chaos to come.
