A new fan-made trailer for American Horror Story: Freak Show was released this week, and while many were fooled into thinking it was real, it still provided a creepy teaser for what the show could do with its new theme.

Wes Bentley Cast As Tormentor Of Kathy Bates' Character in Freak Show

News of the first teaser trailer for American Horror Story: Freak Show went viral on Sunday, with several publications reporting it as FX's first glimpse at the new season. However, The Hollywood Reporter soon revealed that it was actually a fan-made trailer, despite the almost identical production values and style as previous teaser trailers for the series.

In the trailer, titled "Fallen Angel," a woman with giant, majestic white wings is shown on a stage looking very sad. As her wings unfurl, it is revealed that there is an evil-looking clown behind her making her spread the wings.

American Horror Story: Freak Show Will Be 'Unlike Anything' The Series Has Ever Done

The trailer then cuts to the American Horror Story: Freak Show title card, which features a miniature elephant above the title.

While the trailer is reportedly fake, it does give off an interesting vibe of innocence mixed with madness, common themes featured in all three seasons of American Horror Story.

American Horror Story: Freak Show features Jessica Lange as the owner of one of the last remaining freak shows in America in the 1950s. Among her troupe of freaks are characters played by Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy and Evan Peters. Other cast members include Denis O'Hare, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Jamie Brewer and Michael Chiklis, who plays Bates' character's ex-husband, Bassett's character's current husband and Peters' character's father.

American Horror Story: Freak Show is set to premiere in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
