A baby may not have been something Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes expected to have, but new reports claim that the actor is already happily stepping into the role of a doting dad-to-be.

Ryan Gosling Signs On To New Movie-Girlfriend's Pregnancy Not Stopping His Career?

According to US Weekly, the Only God Forgives actor is only giving his fans more reasons to love him and be jealous of Mendes, because he has been taking care of her in every possible way during her pregnancy-including doing the grocery shopping and cooking her meals.

"Ryan goes out and gets the groceries," an insider reportedly told the magazine July 16. "[Eva's] been wanting pasta, and he's cooking her meals. Ryan has already stepped into the role of caring father-to-be."

Eva Mendes Is Pregnant!

The actor had previously mentioned back in 2011-the same year he and Mendes began dating after meeting on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines-that being a father was something he very much desired, and if he were to become one, his career would potentially take a back seat, which would make his devotion to Mendes now seem more likely.

"I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies," he said at the time. "When someone comes along, I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that. I'll make movies until I make babies."

However, one key person appears to not be taking the news of Gosling and Mendes' impending bundle of joy very well-his ex-girlfriend Rachel McAdams.

According to Hollywood Life, Gosling's former flame and 'great love of his live' is devastated that she has now lost him for good-especially considering the reason the two reportedly split in 2007 after two years together.

The website alleges that McAdams wasn't ready to have children with her beau at the time, making the news that he is now starting a family with Mendes hard for her to hear.

However, one thing that has been reassuring to fans of the Notebook co-stars is the report that Gosling has no intention of marrying Mendes just because she is pregnant-meaning the baby wouldn't necessarily keep them together in the future.

"Ryan doesn't think they need to get married just because they are having a baby," a source said when the news broke.
