Claire Holt may have exited The Originals halfway through Season 1, but that doesn't mean the character of Rebekah Mikaelson is gone for good.

Dynamics Are Changing For 'The Originals' Season 2

Holt's return during the series' season finale confirmed that the actress is open to returning in a guest star capacity. Now that she is raising her brother's Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) baby daughter Hope, it's possible that Holt could appear in more episodes, or even return frequently.

Season 2 is set to surround Klaus and Hayley's attempt to make New Orleans safe for their daughter's return, and so Holt's presence might more likely be suited to the second half of the season. Nonetheless, fans of the original sibling dynamic that has made The Originals what it is would be thankful for her return.

Her exit, after all, had been amicable, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Back in March, the star admitted that she enjoyed working on the show. "As far as I'm concerned," explained the actress, "this is a temporary hiatus. I'm taking a little vacation in the sun, but I'm going to return to my New Orleans family."

Prouder Julie Plec spoke similarly of Holt's split, assuring audiences that she would always have a place on the network. "When she signed up for the show, we knew what her contract was... the likelihood [that she'll return] is very, very, very, very, very good. It's equal parts Clare's decision and our request."

The Originals returns for its second season on The CW Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
