Fifty Shades of Grey fans already know that Charlie Hunnam quit the role of Christian Grey due to scheduling conflicts with his FX show Sons of Anarchy, but with the highly anticipated trailer expected to come out Thursday, what is Hunnam saying now?

During a Television Critics Association event for Fox on Sunday, Hunnam told reporters he was still "invested" in the role, now being played by actor Jamie Dornan.

"I was just really, really invested and wanted to work with [director] Sam [Taylor-Johnson] and play that character," Hunnam said about Grey. "I'm really, really curious." Hunnam reiterated that he had to drop out of Fifty Shades because of scheduling issues, but that he would be willing to have his audition on the DVD when the film is released.

"I felt like I had an interesting take on that character and felt like I could have done a good job," Hunnam had previously told Us Weekly. "I really had a clear idea of what I wanted to do. When you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind, it's heartbreaking not to be able to play him."

Dornan eventually got Hunnam's former part, with Dakota Johnson staying in the role of Anastasia Steele. The first trailer for the film is now expected to come out this Thursday for fans.
