Television shows, from time to time, will get a little meta, and it seems that TNT's Major Crimes is going to be the latest in that long line of programs.

Spoilers For Upcoming Episode Of Major Crimes

Carter Matt reported on Saturday that an upcoming episode of this crime show is going to be about some sordid business taking place around... a crime show.

The episode, entitled "Cutting Loose," will air later this month, on July 28, and revolve around a murder at a television program that one of the members of the Major Crimes unit is a consultant on. The synopsis is as follows: "Lt. Mike Tao of Major Crimes finds himself doing double duty when the star of the cop show on which he moonlights as a consultant becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his biggest fan." Of course, there almost assuredly is at least one police officer that is a consultant on Major Crimes. Hopefully, in this instance, art won't imitate life.

Major Crimes, Other TNT Shows, Renewed

While the plot of this episode obviously revolves around a serious crime, there is also a chance for this episode to have a little fun given the metatextual nature of the plot. Fans of crime procedurals are often quite familiar with the workings of television, at least to some degree, so episodes like this can be an extra bit of fun for the viewers. Major Crimes, which stars Mary McDonnell, airs Mondays on TNT. It was recently renewed for a fourth season. Who knows what kind of outside the box ideas they might have for that?
