After starring in the past two Fast & Furious movies and taking over the title role in Hercules, it looks like Dwayne Johnson will be joining the superhero genre.

During an interview with Total Film, Johnson hinted at a possible role in an upcoming DC Universe movie. Johnson teased the role as something with the "power of Superman" but couldn't divulge the details because they were waiting for the big announcement at Comic-Con.

"I will say this. There's a character out there that we're going to announce very soon, that I'm going to play. And... I'll just say this. He has the power of Superman. And it's not the Green Lantern by the way," Johnson said.

Will Dwayne Johnson Be Returning For 'Fast and Furious 8?'

"Believe me, John Stewart, he is a character who I wanted to play, but there was already a version of Green Lantern, and so now we've gone in a different direction. But this character has the power of Superman. He can throw down. Just say the word. That's all I'm going to say."

The key word in the quote is "Just say the word." The phrase seems to hint that Johnson is set to play Shazam. In the DC Comics, the character Billy Batson turns into the superhero Shazam, once known as Captain Marvel, by uttering the word "Shazam." Not unlike Superman, his powers include flight, super-strength, super-speed, and invulnerability.

While nothing is official yet, a leaked list of DC Comics movies showed that Warner Bros. has a plan for their films in the near future with a rumored year of 2016 for a possible Shazam movie.

It seems like Comic-Con could open up a large-scale battle of superhero movies between DC and Marvel. Johnson can next be seen in director Brett Ratner's Hercules, which hits theaters on July 25.
