Following a strong run on HBO's True Detective and a lead role in Christopher Nolan's next movie, Interstellar, it seems like Matthew McConaughey will be going after a smaller movie for his next role.

'True Detective' Series Creator Interview, 'I'm Writing Season 2 Right Now?'

Deadline reports that the Oscar winner is in talks to star in The Company Man. The Black List script is by Andrew Cypiot that had been known as the Untitled Ed Wilson Project. No director is attached yet but Deadline said with McConaughey locked in, he will help to guide someone in the role.

The film is based on true events. CIA agent Edwin Wilson went behind enemy lines to secure a weapons contract and report information back to the CIA shortly after the Cold War. He had a meteoric rise until company policies changed and he was unceremoniously fired. Even after, he continued to operate as a man without a country and became public enemy No. 1 to the U.S. Attorney's office.

'True Detective' Season 2: Brad Pitt Plus 'Hard Women, Bad Men' To Join Cast For 2015?

McConaughey has been on a roll as of late with strong turns in True Detective, The Wolf of Wall Street, Mud, and an Oscar-winning turn in Dallas Buyers Club last year. He is set to be in Nolan's Interstellar next where he plays the lead role opposite the likes of Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon, and Casey Affleck.

Based on McConaughey's work in both Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective, this sounds like a role that he has been excelling in lately and The Company Man could keep the strong performances going.
