Charlie Hunnam, star of FX's Sons of Anarchy, has revealed what his character Jax's frame of mind will be going into the motorcycle drama's final season.

Sons of Anarchy Season 7 Premiere Date Set For Early September

Hunnam attended the Television Critics Association press tour Monday and discussed Jax's emotional state after the death of Tara (Maggie Siff).

"Jax is in a very schizophrenic state," Hunnam explained. "He's obviously very sad and vulnerable and kind of broken, but there's a huge amount of vengeance and anger in his heart ... He knows what he wants to do, and that's where all his energy is going. He can't get away from the fact that the love of his life has been taken from him."

The Cosby Show Star Set For 'Sticky' Role in Sons of Anarchy

Series creator Kurt Sutter, who was also in attendance at the event, added that Jax's "singular purpose" for most of the final season would be to avenge Tara's death.

Discussing the ending of the series, Sutter admitted that the events of the finale have not necessarily been decided quite yet. He also noted that he did not want the final season to "feel" like a final season; instead, he is hoping that it just feels like another season of the show.

However, fans likely won't be getting a polarizing ending. The series creator quipped, "We don't fade to black in a diner," referencing the infamous ending of HBO's The Sopranos.

The final season of Sons of Anarchy is set to begin Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
