After much delay, it looks like Disney has finally settled on a date to bring back the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Film Producer Bruckheimer In 3-Year Deal With Paramount

The studio announced on Wednesday that Jack Sparrow will return to the seven seas on July 7, 2017. The next installment comes four years after the last installment, On Stranger Tides.

The new movie, titled Dead Men Tell No Tales, is scheduled to be directed by Kon-Tiki helmers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg from a script by Jeff Nathanson.

How Amber Heard Supported Johnny Depp During Surprise Aerosmith Performance

It is anticipated that Johnny Depp would return as Jack Sparrow with the possibility of other staple characters like Geoffrey Rush's Barbossa or Jack Davenport's James Norrington would return also, but so far nothing has been confirmed.

The film has hit rocky waters before finally getting a confirmed date. Originally rumors had Christoph Waltz joining the cast as the film's enemy, but nothing came of it and the project has been dead in the water, especially with the recent flop by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Depp's The Lone Ranger.

According to Deadline, Rønning and Sandberg said that they will shoot Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, their first big studio feature, in Puerto Rico and New Orleans at the end of the year.

Hallels said that the plot will begin with a pirate wedding. It could be that Jack will be the one to wed but Bruckheimer is not letting that one out yet. Penelope Cruz, who played Angelica in the last movie, will be a no show. As for Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Keira Knightley), they will be moved to the periphery of the story as it seems their path has reached resolution in terms of turmoil. The movie will see Jack follow the words of Captain Teague (Keith Richards), his father, to get the Trident.
