Happy anniversary to One Direction! It's hard to believe but today the band is celebrating four years together.

Liam Payne took to his Twitter today to thank all of 1D's fans for their constant support. "Happy four years everyone can't believe it's been that long thank you so much everybody crazy how things have turned out I love you".

Niall Horan also tweeted about the group's four-year anniversary. "Wow ! Can't believe it! 4 years ago today we were out together ! Crazy how time flies but it also feels like it was years and years ago !" Horan continued to thank of all of the fans for "all over the world" for the incredible support. He also said he wants to just keep having more fun with Directioners.

Horan than thanked 1D themselves. "Thank you lads ,we've had a great time so far, you are family to me now , not just band mates ! Love you".

One Direction was first formed on the British singing-competition The X Factor and found international success after the show.

Harry Styles also got emotional thanking everyone who made it possible for the band. "Thank you to all of you who have supported us. We couldn't ask for better fans, you are absolutely the best ever. We love you so much .xx".

1D is currently on a short break from their Where We Are tour before kicking if off again in August.
