Since TNT's Major Crimes deals with a lot of, well, major crimes, it can be a fairly somber show- bur things could change in the next episode.

Officers Hunt Down Killer On Major Crimes

On Tuesday Carter Matt reported that next week's episode could have some degree of fun to it. At the very least, it should be interesting and amusing for fans of crime procedurals such as this one, as the plot revolves around a crime procedural.

The episode, entitled "Cutting Loose," involves Michael Paul Chan's character Lieutenant Mike Tao dealing with a murder related to a television show he is a consultant on. The star of said cop show also happens to be the primary suspect of the murder of his biggest fan.

TNT Renews Major Crimes

Clearly, this episode is sort of meta, as it is an episode of a crime show about a fake crime show, and because there are likely actual police officers working as consultants on Major Crimes. Last week's episode of the show seemed prime to be turned into a spinoff, so Major Crimes seems to be experimenting a bit. Well, they reportedly renewed for a fourth season, so perhaps they can afford it.

Additionally, "Cutting Loose" features Luke Perry as a guest star. Perry is, of course, best known for playing Dylan McKay back in the day on Beverly Hills, 90210, making him a teenaged heartthrob. He aged out of that role, and his recent career mostly has seen him making guest or recurring appearances on procedurals. As such, this is right up his alley, and perhaps also fitting in this particular episode of Major Crimes. The show airs Monday nights on TNT.
