The synopsis for Insidious 3 recently revealed that the story will be a prequel to the first chapter and will deal with the case of a completely new family altogether.

There will be a teenage girl in the mix and Stefanie Scott who is starring in the movie must be it. Dermot Mulroney might be playing her father in the movie.

Elise, played by Lin Shayne, can be seen in the image with a few other cast members. It seems like the rumors about the next in the indie horror franchise resolving the cliffhanger in Insidious: Chapter 2 might be true as Elise is in the movie indeed. While the movie will not be about the Lambert family, the plot thickens as it rewinds to a time before them, and will take fans to the origins of The Further.

Filming Is "Going Great," Director Says, While Revealing The Screenplay For The Original Movie 

Here's the synopsis:

"In Insidious: Chapter 3, a twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further."

Recently Shayne spoke with The Signal about Elise returning for Insidious 3 and working with Leigh Whannell who will be directing the film.

When asked what fans can expect about the future of Elise, the actress was careful not give anything away.

"I'm not telling you," she said. "But it's a wonderful story and Elise is very prominent in the story."

Entertainment One, FilmDistrict, and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will be developing the third chapter of the micro-budgeted franchise. Blum (Blumhouse Productions) will be co-producing the third film with Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity). Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Peter Schlessel, Lia Buman and Xavier Marchand will come on board as executive producers.

Insidious 3 will release in April 2015.
