The trailer for Dakota Johnson's highly anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey was finally released on Thursday. It shows a timid Johnson as Anastasia Steele meeting powerful business men Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) for the first time. A glimpse of their steamy love affair is also depicted.

So, who is Johnson off the screen? Below are five facts about the actress.

1) Johnson grew up in Colorado and she went to Aspen Community School.

2) She's the daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Griffith, who starred in 1997's Lolita, tweeted her excitement for her daughter's new role. "My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!! #proudmama," she wrote in September.

3) Fifty Shades isn't Johnson's first leading role. She played a single mom with a 5-year-old daughter in FOX's Ben and Kate in 2012.

4) The 23-year-old has already starred alongside some big names, including Just Timberlake in The Social Network and and The Five-Year Engagement with Jason Segel.

5) Dakota gave an interesting explanation as to why it was easy for her to take on the role of Anastasia. "I don't have any problem doing anything," she told Elle magazine in the March issue. "The secret is I have no shame."
